Matthew (Matt) Pitell is a second year, PhD candidate at the University of Delaware in the Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering Department from Pittsburgh, PA. Matt started his academic career at Case Western Reserve University where he developed a passion for colloidal and interfacial science. Now at UD, Matt’s research aims to connect microscopic interactions to bulk material properties through optical trapping and bulk rheology. The insights from these experiments can help create better construction materials for space colonization and predict rough particle failure mechanics allowing for easier planet exploration.
