This program provides January stipends of up to $2,400 to undergraduates in the fields of science, technology, engineering, math, and geography who are currently enrolled at a DESGC institution. Recipients must be US Citizens. Students will work on a research project with a faculty mentor at the institution they attend or at any DESGC affiliate institution.
Internships run in January with an expectation of 4 full time weeks (160 hours) or 4 half time weeks (80 hours) which may be scheduled and divided as agreed by the mentor and student. Students will be asked to complete a short worksheet at the end to describe their experience. We also ask students to attend and present their work at our annual Research Symposium in April.
Preference will be given to students with faculty advisors who have already agreed to mentor and can provide some matching funds as a portion of the student’s stipend. Students who have not identified a mentor are still encouraged to apply, and we love to see first time researchers joining the program! We will work to match as many students as possible within the limitations of our budget.
