NASA EPSCoR establishes partnerships with government, higher education and industry that are designed to effect lasting improvements in a state or region’s research infrastructure, research and development capacity, and its national research and development competitiveness. Delaware NASA EPSCoR opportunities focus this effort through our partner institutions to build the Aerospace Research infrastructure that Delaware needs to compete in the growing space economy.


Research Infrastructure Development (RID) Seed Awards
Four projects funded at $21,000 annually in Delaware
Selected and awarded by Delaware NASA EPSCoR Review committee, with a focus on new researchers without significant previously funded awards.
Applications open each Spring
Basic Research Awards (CAN)
Limited submission, 1 preproposal selected annually by Delaware NASA EPSCoR review committee for development and competitive submission to NASA
In the past 6 years Delaware has enjoyed 5 successful proposals each at $750,000 for 3 year awards


Rapid Response Research (R3)
The R3 is a collaborative effort between NASA EPSCoR, NASA Centers and mission directorates. The goals of R3 are to provide a streamlined method to address research issues important to NASA, and to enable NASA EPSCoR researchers to work with NASA to solve research issues impacting the agency’s programs/missions.

Awardees gain the opportunity to fly mature NASA EPSCoR research projects in Low-Earth Orbit.
